I found the wisdom of Carolyn Myss in 1996 when I read Anatomy of the Spirit. Now 13 years later I reread the book. It seemed more profound to me now than it did then. I believe it is because I have studied more and am deeper into the root causes of illness.
I opened the internet to see what happened to her since 1996. In Myss's case I found she has been busy:
· Three more books
· The "Journey with Caroline Myss" at Oxygen TV
· "Three Levels of Power & How to Use Them" TV Special
· "Why People don't heal & How They Can" TV Special
Since 1982 Myss has been on the path of holistic medicine that teaches:
· Intuition is a natural by-product of a mature self-esteem and a sense of empowerment-not power over, but power to be
· To truly love yourself is to finally discover the essence of personal courage, self respect, integrity, and self esteem.
Myss is quite religious drawing on her Christian background in her work and includes the commandments of Moses and the words of Jesus. She includes the Chakras of India and the Kabala of Jewish tradition. She also possesses a gift of medical insight. As a result of that she became associated with Dr. Norman Shealy with who she collaborated to broaden her experience and knowledge.
Anatomy of the Soul opened my mind to the idea that spirit energy is the foundation for life. Myss breaks with conventional medicine in that she portrays a much deeper analysis. She believes that the story of a life becomes biological reality creating both illness and happiness. Myss explains with descriptions of the integration of body and mind with the seven levels of the Chakra's
1. Tribal power
2. Relationships
3. Personal power
4. Emotional power
5. Will power
6. Mind power
7. Spiritual connector
She connects each level with her personal experience with clients and how they lose individual perspective when they blindly follow the mind instead of the intuition. Rereading Myss reminded me not to forget my personal power and too be aware of how group leadership can lead you to accept beliefs that could be detrimental to your spirits target.
• My biggest FEAR in life is becoming dependent.
• The idea of depending on my boss, a medical doctor, expensive insurance or the government for my health care did not feel right.
Could I escape that?
The answer is YES
