It came upon the midnight clear That glorious song of old From angels bending near the earth To touch their harps of gold Peace on the earth goodwill to men From heaven's all gracious King ; The world on solemn stillness lay To hear the angels sing.

SWAM VIVEKANANDA –“The calm sea is the Absolute; the same sea in waves is Divine Mother. She is time, space, and causation. God is Mother and has two natures, the conditioned and the unconditioned. As the former, She is God. nature, and soul (humanity). As the latter, She is unknown and unknowable. Out of the Unconditioned came the trinity god, nature, and soul, the triangle of existence... A bit of Mother, a drop, was Krishna, another was Buddha, another was Christ. The worship of even one spark of Mother in our earthly mother leads to greatness. Worship Her if you want love and wisdom.”

SWAMI CHINMAYANANDA –“Daily prayer and meditation are all wonderful therapeutic agencies in building up peace and happiness within an individual.”

SWAMI CHINMAYANANDA –“Forgiveness is an ornament to men and women alike, Forgiveness is the secret beauty in any spiritual seeker's life. Not to forgive is to maintain the passions bottled up in us and then we are never empty enough to lift ourselves in our soaring meditations... Sandalwood perfumes even the axe that hews it down. The more we rub sandalwood against a stone, the more its fragrance spreads. Burn it, and it wafts its glory in the entire neighbourhood. Such is the enchanting beauty of forgiveness in life.”

SWAMI CHINMAYANANDA –“Humility is the virtue of the cultured... It is but human to make mistakes, to fall a prey to some temptation, to get enchanted by some false emotion, or to get carried away with a wrong intention. But how soon can one regain one's original goodness measure one's spiritual poise acquired. Fall as often as you must, but don't lie down where you have fallen! Be like a rubber ball; rebound and reach again the summits from which you had fallen.”

SWAMI CHINMAYANANDA –“Moksha is not 'Freedom from action'but 'Freedom in action'.”

SWAMI CHINMAYANANDA –“Religion must not be considered true because it is necessary, but necessary because it is true.”

SWAMI CHINMAYANANDA –“Sandalwood perfumes even the axe that hews it down! The more we rub sandalwood against a stone, the more its fragrance spreads. Burn it, and it wafts its glory in the entire neighbourhood. Such is the enchanting beauty of forgiveness in life.”

SWAMI CHINMAYANANDA –“The suffering of each depends, not upon the factual happenings, but upon the texture of each one's mind.”

SWAMI CHINMAYANANDA –“The tragedy of human history is decreasing happiness in the midst of increasing comforts.”

SWAMI CHINMAYANANDA –“There is no intrinsic happiness in objects. The same objects do not please everybody. We associate happiness with the objects we desire. But happiness is the nature of the real Self of man which expresses and functions through his body, mind and intellect.”

SWAMI KRISHNANANDA –“The bliss of Brahmn is directly experienced in Yoga meditation, as Yogananda. The essential bliss unconditioned is called Nijananda, also called Atmananda, or Miss of the primary Self.... The bliss of Brahmn is Brahmn itself and not some quality attached to it from outside, and the whole world beginning from space down to the grossest object like the body, is nothing apart from the bliss of Brahmn...”

SWAMI MUKTANAND- “We create our own world by our own thought, and thus we make our own heaven and our own hell.”

SWAMI MUKTANANDA –“When all the senses become quiet and you experience bliss, you are in meditation; you are in peace. God dwells within you as you.”

SWAMI NIKHILANANDA –“All knowledge of the phenomenal world, which is the product of avidya, is called ignorance. The realisation of the identity of Brahmn and atman is I alone called vidya or knowledge... The self (atman) becomes identified with the intellect (buddhi) on account of avidya. It appears to think, move about, and act in other ways, like a light which appears to be coloured when reflected in a coloured object.”

SWAMI NIRMALANANDA GIRI –“Either our "knowledge" is false or corrupt or we are false and corrupt. Perhaps both. We need to figure out what is wrong and make it right. Frankly in today's "yoga world' both East and West, both the "dharma"; and the "dharmis" are false and corrupt to a grievous extent. This can be seen just by reading the Gita and then looking at them. But those who inoculate themselves with the wisdom of the Gita will be right and true, secure from catching the diseases of adhaema, of unrighteousness. And they will find that the way of dharma is for them a joyful and easy path.”

SWAMI NIRMALANANDA GIRI –“Since the Self transcends space, how can it have a measurable size? ...Incarnate in a body the Self pervades it and reflects it, but upon the dissolution of the body those seeming conditions cease instantly for they have no objective reality So it is not the Self that is really of the size of a thumb, but rather the lotus of the heart within which it momentarily dwells.”

SWAMI NIRMALANANDA GIRI –“The Divine Light is the essence of Om, the Life-Giving Word, the Pranava. Then at the end of life, having prepared himself by this practice, sitting in meditation the yogi ascends upward from the body into the realm of immortality.”

SWAMI NITYASWARUPANANDA –“An unperturbed person remains so because his mind is ever calm and tranquil, even in the midst of activities, owing to the absence of any egoistic feeling which alone is the source of distraction.”

SWAMI NITYASWARUPANANDA –“Generally, when we restrain our conduct and appear calm, we do so with a motive. We want to give the impression that our thought and feelings correspond with appearance of our actions. This is insincerity and pretence and is assumed by one who is ignorant. It is the pretended calmness of an attached mind. This attitude is the greatest enemy of spiritual unfoldment, and creates more and more bondages. The wise one, however, is completely free from attachment. His actions are absolutely free from egoism and therefore motiveless. They transcend all limitations.”

SWAMI NITYASWARUPANANDA –“In reality the Self is ever free. It never enters into a state of bondage. It is our ignorance that we think ourselves bound; and this thought makes our supposed bondage persist and continue. If, however, we constantly think of ourselves as the eternally free Self, we shall realise that we are ever free.”

SWAMI NITYASWARUPANANDA –“In reality the Self is ever free. It never enters into a state of bondage. It is our ignorance that we think ourselves bound; and this thought makes our supposed bondage persist and continue.”

SWAMI NITYASWARUPANANDA –“In the dark of night a rope is mistaken for a snake. The rope does not really become a snake; it, has no other reality than the rope itself. In the same way this universe has no real existence. It is the Self: Pure Consciousness and Supreme Bliss, in which this universe, through ignorance, is seen to exist. Consciousness, which is the substratum  of the universe, remains eternally pure and unaffected. We are that Consciousness. Therefore, we must cease identifying ourselves with the superimposed universe, and thus we shall be happy”

SWAMI NITYASWARUPANANDA –“Liberation presupposes bondage, but the Self is ever-existent, ever unborn, ever free; It has never been born; It has never been in bondage. The idea even of liberation is consequently a serious limitation to the seeker of wisdom, for it screens him from the true nature of the Self. The same truth applies to liberation at death, in which state the Self is permanently dissociated from the body But the idea of such emancipation also presupposes the truth of the body and of bondage, and therefore goes •directly against the true nature of the Self.”

SWAMI NITYASWARUPANANDA –“Our life is a mixture of opposites like joy and sorrow, success and failure, good and evil... As long as we consider this world to be real, we cannot escape the pairs of opposites nor eradicate the sense of duty. The only way out of this state of things is to realise the unreality of the world, and renounce our identification with it.”

SWAMI NITYASWARUPANANDA –“So long the universe exists, the Self is conceived in two aspects —individual and absolute, hi the individual aspect it is transmigratory samsarin, passing through rounds of births and rebirths. In the absolute aspect it is eternal and unchanging. But the universe exists only through ignorance, In reality the Self is One; the universe does not exist. So the distinction between the individual and absolute aspects of the Self is ipso facto unreal. The Self alone is.”

SWAMI NITYASWARUPANANDA –“The universe has no existence independent of the Self. What we see is only the projection of the mind. The moment we bring about a change in our consciousness, the universe changes for us. The Self is the only real substance. Existence is its very nature. The Self therefore can never be non-existent, as nothing can lose its own nature. Likewise, the universe is unreal. It has no existence independent of the Self. Non-existence is its very nature.”

SWAMI OMKARANANDA –“Divinity is the ultimate . Happiness; it is the unconditioned and infinite Happiness. The secret of gaining unending Happiness lies in establishing inner dynamic relations with the Divine.”

SWAMI OMKARANANDA –“Give more than you promise. Do more than you intend to. For all good purposes, give more than you can. Aim for an ideal greater than the one you can immediately attain to. Talk only if you have something good to say.”

SWAMI PARAMANANDA –“0 Lord, make my life full of Divine inspiration, that it may become; productive only of good.  Free me from all pettiness and narrowness. Help me to keep my thought fixed on that which is vast and majestic. Expand my heart and enlarge my mind that I may be able to contain Thee and give myself up wholly to Thee."

SWAMI PARAMANANDA –“May the Divine Mother who is the Source of my life and strength, May she surround me with Her wise protection. May I look to Her for all things, and never lose hold on Her Divine Hand. May the veil of selfishness never blind my eyes to Her glory; May my heart never be closed to Her all-filling love.”

SWAMI PARTHASARATHI –“Consciousness in an individual is the same consciousness underlying the entire universe. Consciousness is the common substratum for both microcosm and macrocosm. That all pervading Consciousness is the reality. Consciousness in an individual is like space in a pot while the all pervading consciousness is like total space. Even when you call space differently you cannot really segregate space-in-the-pot from total space.”

SWAMI PARTHASARATHY –“Brahma blesses practitioners of tapas (austerities) with great intellectual power which can lead first to renunciation and then to Godrealisation, but can also become a corrupting force if the practitioner loses sight of the ultimate goal, the Immortal Self. Ravana had been corrupted by this power and lured into worldly domination.”

SWAMI PARTHASARATHY –“Every creation has three causes — material, efficient and instrumental. The making of a pot requires the mud, the potter and the potting wheel respectively. In the case of the Creation of the manifest world, the three causes are one: Brahman, Brahman uses itself to create the world out of itself. Thus it is Self-supporting. The pluralistic world arises out of the ocean like bubbles. The bubbles are, at once, separate and a part of the ocean. They are made by the ocean out of itself. If we understand the water that is the bubble, we understand the water that is the ocean. If we understand the Divine Spirit (Atman) that is us, we understand the Divine Spirit (Brahman) that is the Universe.”

SWAMI PARTHASARATHY –“The Atman is eclipsed by three types of desire, according to a person's personality type — tamasic, rajasic and sattvic. The sattvic is the highest and subtlest being, no more than the desire to realise the Self. When fire, is covered by smoke, we see the flame as well as the smoke. Even an external factor, such as a passing breeze, can take the smoke away and what remains is the pure flame. The rajasic personality is like a mirror covered with dust. The divine image is blurred. External factors are not enough to remove the dust. Selfhelp is also required. Tamasic desire is like the baby inside the mother's womb. As long as the baby is in the womb, it is completely covered. Eventually it will come out; a great deal of patience is required.”

SWAMI PARTHASARATHY –“The desires of the mind are insatiable and are compared to fire. Any amount of fuel we give to the fire will not satisfy it. We can throw the whole house, the whole country, the whole world into the fire and at no point will it say, No thank you, I've had enough. This is the nature of fire. This is the nature of desire. The more we feed it the more its appetite increases, the higher and wider is its sweep.”

SWAMI PARTHASARATHY –“The face of Truth' (the Atman) is said to be 'covered by a golden disc' because gold represents wealth. Wealth is the accumulation of material objects. So when the student commands the sun to remove the golden disc he is calling to the Atman to discard the last accumulated vestige of the material world.”

SWAMI PARTHASARATHY –“The law of karma says , that for every action there is a reaction. As long as we have even one desire we are still caught in the wheel of karma and will take rebirth in this world to try to satisfy that desire. We will play again in the 'three cities' of waking, dreaming and deep sleep. The three cities are also known as the gross, subtle and causal bodies, which refer to the physical (waking), the mental (dreaming) and the unmanifested desires (deep sleep).”

SWAMI PARTHASARATHY –“The law of karma says that for every action there is a reaction. Driven by the stream of thoughts in one direction, which constitutes desire, an action is performed. From action performed with desire, desire for more of the same or something different arises. We are born because we have ended our last life still caught in this chain of action and desire. As long as we have even one desire we are still ! caught in the wheel of karma and will take rebirth in this world to try to satisfy that desire. We will play again in the three cities of waking, dreaming and deep sleep.”

SWAMI PARTHASARATHY –“Vedanta reveals your real Self and explains your true nature and your relationship with the world. You are essentially divine no matter what you appear to be for divinity is at the core of your personality Vedanta help you to unfold your divinity to gain the knowledge of your intrinsic Self. With this knowledge you live a life of perfect harmony, peace and bliss.”

SWAMI PARTHASARATHY –“When we go to the temple, mosque or church to pray or chant, and we feel full of joy and purity, it is God that enables us to feel this — but God is not that feeling. God cannot be felt. What you feel is terrestrial. What enables you to feel is transcendental? But we are lost in the idols. So many people come to worship idols, which represent the ideal of God, as God incarnate. God is not the temple, the church, and the mosque. God is not the statue of Rama or the crucifix or the Kabah. They are all only symbols. Even the sound Aum is just a symbol.”

SWAMI PARTHASARATHY –“Wherever there is a reflecting surface in the world, there is a reflected sun. Even a dewdrop reflects the sun. Millions of reflecting surfaces produce millions of suns. Similarly, there are millions of reflected forms but there is only one all-pervading entity and that is the Brahman.”

SWAMI PRABHUPADA –“Ahimsa, non-violence, means that one should not do anything which will put others into misery or confusion.”

SWAMI PRABHUPADA –“Cosmic creation resembles the creepers and plants. Even when the plants and creepers are no longer to be seen, their seeds remain, and these dormant seeds fructify in contact with water. Similarly, the seed-like spiritual sparks exist in a dormant state after the cosmic manifestation is annihilated; and when the cosmic manifestation reappears, all the silent living beings within the womb of material nature come out and engage in sense enjoyment, thereby growing luxuriantly fat.”

SWAMI PRABHUPADA –“From Krishna comes the wonderful lotus flower that contains the seed of the entire universe. But He is not the source of only one such flower. Krishna is the sources of innumerable universes, which niayt be compared to a big garland of lotuses. We are concerned with this one planet, but Krishna's creation contains an unlimited number of planets. Therefore, Krishna is unlimited. Krishna's navel resembles a lotus, He is garlanded with lotuses, and His eyes are also compared to the petals of a lotus. We can meditate our whole life on how beautiful and wise Krishna is, and how Krishna manifests His creation. A yogi is one who always thinks of Krishna.”

SWAMI PRABHUPADA –“Narayana, the Supreme Person, is residing both outside and inside of every living entity. He is present in both the spiritual and material worlds. Although He is far, far away, still He is near to us. And because He is always engaged in transcendental bliss, we cannot understand how He is enjoying His full opulence. We cannot see or understand with these material senses. Therefore, the Vedas say that to understand Him our material mind and senses cannot act. But one who has purified his mind and senses by practicing Krishna consciousness in devotional service can see Him constantly it is confirmed in Brahma Samhita that the devotee who has developed love for the Supreme God can see Him always, without cessation. He can be seen and understood only by devotional service.”

SWAMI PRABHUPADA –“One should begin the worship of Ganpati, who drives away all impediments.”

SWAMI PRABHUPADA –“Since we cannot create, we have no right to kill any living entity, and therefore man-made laws that distinguish between killing a man and killing an animal are imperfect.”

SWAMI PRABHUPADA –“The person in material consciousness is convinced by false ego that he is the doer of everything- He does not know that the mechanism of body is produced by material nature, which works under the supervision of the Supreme Lord. He takes credit for doing everything independently, and that is the symptom of his nescience. He is factually bewildered by the false ego, which makes him forget his eternal relationship with the Lord.”

SWAMI PRABHUPADA –“The virtuous man is in Krishna Consciousness. A person may appear to be irreligious, but if he has the qualifications of Krishna consciousness wholly and fully, he is to be understood to be a sadhu...”

SWAMI PRABHUPADA –“We are given as much freedom as we deserve but misuse of that freedom is the cause of suffering. Eternal kala offers both happiness and miseries. As we have miseries uncalled for, so we may have happiness also without being asked, all predestined by kala...Everyone is suffering and enjoying the result of his own destiny. This destiny is made by the living beings in course of social intercourse. Everyone creates his own destiny under the supervision of the Supreme Lord. He is all-pervading and therefore He can see everyone's activities. And because the Lord has no beginning or end, He is known also as the eternal time, kala.”

SWAMI PREMANANDA –“Spiritual discipline is nothing but the bringing together of the scattered mind that is unable to focus on the Absolute. Along with meditation and repetition of the Lord's name, we must reason keenly and carefully simply meditating or repeating God's names, without any effort to root out desires, will not do.”

SWAMI RAM TIRTHA –“The trees of the wood are my next of kins, And the rocks alive with what beats in me; The clay is my flesh, and the fox my skin, I am fierce with gadfly and sweet with the bee, The flower is naught but the bloom of my love, And the waters run down in the tune I dream. The sun is my flower hung up above, I flash with the lightning, with falcons scream, I cannot die though forever death weaves back and forth in the warp of me. I was never born yet my births of breath are as many as waves on the sleepless Sea. My breath doth make the flowers fragrant, My eyebeams cause the Suns bright light, The sunset mirrors my cheeks rose blushes My aching love holds stars so tight Sweet streams and rivers my veins and arteries. My beauteous hair the fresh green trees. What giant strength! My bones are mountains, O, joy! The fairy world my bride, Nay, talk no difference, wonder of wonders, Myself the bridegroom, I the bride.”

SWAMI RAMDAS –“A joyous spirit avoids and heals all mental and physical sufferings,”

SWAMI RAMDAS –“External conditions such as occupation and environment do not in any way hamper the progress of the soul towards its eternal source, if the urge within

SWAMI RAMDAS –“In the marvellous lila of the Lord, it is evident that the consciousness of ego is what has made man fall from his supreme plane of benediction and peace.”

SWAMI RAMDAS –“In truth, we seek for God outside of ourselves until we make the great discovery — which is that our heart is the sanctuary where the Lord of the universe, Vishvanath, dwells in all His glory.”

SWAMI RAMDAS –“Just as a flower gives out its fragrance to whomsoever approaches or uses it, so love from within us radiates towards everybody and manifests as spontaneous service.”

SWAMI RAMDAS –“Just as a flower gives out its fragrance to whomsoever approaches or uses it, so love from within us radiates towards everybody and manifests as spontaneous service... When we feed, clothe and attend on anybody, we feel like doing all these things to our own body, for which we do not expect any return or praise or commendation, because all bodies are our own: for, we as the all-pervading Atman or Spirit reside in all bodies.”

SWAMI RAMDAS –“Krishna is an avatar of perfect love. The word Krishna is derived from akarshana which means attraction. So the name itself signifies that Krishna is the Supreme Truth, manifest in human form, to attract the whole world towards Him.”

SWAMI RAMDAS -“The Lord is always good and full of love; He never abandons those who put their trust in Him.”

SWAMI RAMDAS –“We have to take the whole universe as the expression of the one Self. Then only our love flows to all beings and creatures in the world equally.”

SWAMI RANGANATHANANDA –“Infinite reason reveals the non-duality and inseparable unity of the Purusa and the avyakta, which is also the unity of the Self and the non-Self, the subject and the object. This is the impersonal-personal God of Vedanta, the inseparable unity of Brahmn and Shakti, or Shiva and Shakti, in which the avyakta becomes transformed into the Energy of cosmic manifestation.”

SWAMI RANGANATHANANDA –“The outer dimensions of the human being are  parts of external nature.  Our body and our sensory system are all products of the evolution of material processes from lower to higher levels.  But the buddhi. The discriminative faculty in the human being, when it is truly itself, when it I is not under thralldom to the sensory system, is something unique; Vedanta treats it as the channel for the spiritual energy hidden in every human being to flow out into life as dharma or the science of values.”

SWAMI RANGANATHANANDA –“The whole world has to be raised. You can't raise only one part of the world. We need a philosophy for it. We need a particular ideology for it. Not mere humanistic jargon; that won't do. We must have a basis for truth before our action. Advaita philosophy proclaims that Truth. There is only one infinite Self in all. Differences are only on the surface, at the sensory level. Deep down there is perfect unity you and I are one. Then love alone can come out of your heart. Service alone can come out of your heart. We need a philosophy of human unity, of human service... Vedanta is that comprehensive philosophy, a science of human possibilities.”

SWAMI S SATCHIDANANDA –“Our own true nature is Infinite Joy! Always happy, Always peaceful ways free.”

SWAMI SAI PREMANANDA –“She is the Creator. She is the Mother. She is the shakti power that is inside you and her sole purpose was to love God. So your sole purpose is to love God.”

SWAMI SAI PREMANANDA –“The Guru is consciously perfect and unconsciously perfect. Even a mistake that you think he is making is actually perfect. It's there for a lesson. He doesn't need to learn the lesson, you all need to learn the lesson. This is the greatest truth. The Master is perfect at all times.”

SWAMI SHIVANANDA –“Patient and regular practice is the whole secret of spiritual realisation. Do not be in a hurry do your utmost, and leave the rest to God.”

SWAMI SIVANANDA - “If you have controlled your mind, you are the conqueror of the whole world.”

SWAMI SIVANANDA –“A desire arises in the mind. It is satisfied immediately; another comes. In the interval which separates two desires a perfect calm reigns in the mind. It is at this moment that you are freed from all thought, love or hate.”

SWAMI SIVANANDA –“A desire arises in the mind. It is satisfied, immediately another comes. In the interval, which separates two desires, a perfect calm reigns in the mind. It is at this moment freed from all thought, love or hate. Complete peace equally reigns between two mental waves.”

SWAMI SIVANANDA –“All is god and nothing but God. When God is attained, everything is attained.”

SWAMI SIVANANDA –“Deepawali or Diwali means "a row of lights". It falls on the last two days of the dark half of Kartik (October-November). For some it is a three-day festival. It commences with the Dhan-Teras, on the 13th day of the dark half of Kartik, followed the next day by the Narak Chaudas, the 14th day and by Deepawali proper on the 15th d£ There are various alleged origins attributed to this festival. Some hold that they celebrate the marriage of Lakshmi with Lord Vishnu. In Bengal, the festival is dedicated to the worship of Kali. It also commemorates that blessed day on which the triumphant Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya after defeating Ravana. On this day also Sri Krishna killed the demon Narakasura.”

SWAMI SIVANANDA –“Good conduct is the highest dharma. It is the root of all tapas or austerities.”

SWAMI SIVANANDA –“Hanuman conquered innumerable difficulties with courage, patience and undaunted spirit... He had immense courage and presence of mind. He was steady and firm in his actions. He was always successful in his attempts... He had not a tinge of selfishness in his actions. All his actions were offerings unto Lord Rama.”

SWAMI SIVANANDA –“If you have controlled your mind, you are the conqueror of the whole world.”

SWAMI SIVANANDA –“Increase self-esteem and confidence. Achieve what you really want through yoga and mind-control techniques. No prior knowledge of yoga is required.”

SWAMI SIVANANDA –“Just as worldly people glory in their riches, certain aspirants and sadhus are vain about their moral worth. This kind of pride constitutes a serious obstacle to spiritual realisation; it has to be completely extirpated. As long as a man is vain, he remains the minuscule and ordinary incarnation of a soul and cannot know the divinity.”

SWAMI SIVANANDA –“Life is a pilgrimage. The wise man does not rest by the roadside inns. He marches direct to the illimitable domain of eternal bliss, his ultimate destination.”

SWAMI SIVANANDA –“Life is a pilgrimage. The wise man marches direct to the illimitable domain of eternal bliss, his ultimate destination.”

SWAMI SIVANANDA –“Maya is a very huge saw. Lust, anger, greed, delusion, pride, jealousy, hatred, egoism, etc, are the teeth of this huge saw. All worldly-minded persons are caught up in the teeth of this saw and are crushed. Those who are endowed with purity, humility love, dispassion, devotion and enquiry are not hurt. They escape through divine grace. They pass smoothly below the saw and reach the other side of immortality.”

SWAMI SIVANANDA –“Meditation is the dissolution of thoughts in eternal awareness or pure consciousness without objectification, knowing without thinking, merging finitude in infinity”

SWAMI SIVANANDA –“The dark fortnight of Aswayuja (September-October) is known as the Mahalaya Paksha or the fortnight specially sacred for offering oblations to the departed ancestors. The last day of this period, the new moon day, is considered as the most important day in the year for performing . obsequies and rites.”

SWAMI SIVANANDA –“The silent witness of waking state, dreaming state, deep-sleep state and swoon is Brahmn, thy innermost Self, Immortal Atman or the Inner Ruler. ' Identify yourself with Brahmn, transcend all the states and be ever happy and blissful.”

SWAMI SIVANANDA –“Thought is life. What you think, that you are. Your thought creates your environment. Your thoughts constitute your world. If you entertain healthy thoughts, you can keep good health. If you hold on to sickly thoughts in the mind, you can never expect good health, beauty and harmony Remember that the body is a product of the mind and is under the control of mind.”

SWAMI SIVANANDA –“To be free of violence is the duty of every man. No thought of revenge, hatred or ill-will should arise in our minds. Injuring others gives rise to hatred.”

SWAMI SIVANANDA:-“If you have controlled your mind, you are the conqueror of the whole world.”

SWAMI SIVANANDA-“All visible things are Maya. Maya will vanish through the effect of knowledge .One must strive to get rid of Maya which devastates the mind; the destruction of the mind means the annihilation of Maya .Meditation is the only way in which to dominate Maya.”

SWAMI VENKATESANANDA –“Everything in the universe is filled with the same energy, with the same intelligence, the same consciousness. Thus, the objects that we use in our life, the actions that we do with this body, the persons to whom our actions are directed, are nothing but the manifestations of God. This is a remarkable truth, which, until it becomes a realisation, is a remarkable attitude... We have our feet planted firmly on the ground and we grasp the form and let the Indwelling presence envelop our heart, our consciousness.”

SWAMI VENKATESANANDA –“How can we ever contemplate God if we have not learnt to detach the mind from the world, and to remove worldliness from our mind? How can we learn to detach the mind from the world? The two attributes — detaching the mind from the world and attaching it to God — are but two ends of the same stick. Where such synthesis does not prevail, there is hypocrisy pride and conflict. Where it does, there is sincerity humility and harmony — whatever is the outward appearance.”

SWAMI VENKATESANANDA –“Man, in his eagerness for the desired result of actions, is intensely attached to the actions themselves. Even if it is success and even if I am happy for the moment, it is in the shadow of a terribly oppressive fear that it may not last; and the success is eclipsed by fear of loss. Happy is the man who has a balanced mind; balanced in success and failure. To him success is not success; it is duty discharged. To him failure is not failure; for even that is duty discharged. He has done what had to , be done the appropriate action in the right spirit Duty discharged is perennial success. And it belongs to God, not him.”

SWAMI VENKATESANANDA –“No one can lay down a universal dos and don'ts code in great detail. Knowledge is universal, but the code of morals is not. It is based on the divine law, but adopted to time, place and circumstance. This is called tradition. The man with the middling intellect, in the heat of passionate dynamism, misunderstands the moral law and tradition.”

SWAMI VENKATESANANDA –“Taking refuge in God itself is freedom from all sin and sorrow. In Him there is no sin and no sorrow, even as in the sun there is no darkness. God is bliss. Even the happiness we derive from prayer is merely the fruit of contact with him. We should surrender ourselves to Him, to bliss. As long as our ego separates us from Him, we shall continue to be unhappy All the gross and subtle manifestations of this ego should be avoided so that nothing stands in the way between. us and Him.”

SWAMI VENKATESANANDA –“The above can be applied to religion, speculative philosophy, sociology human relations and ethics generally The ultimate reality is one; the sattvica person sees this, even though our eyes cannot perceive the grand unity the sattvica knows intuitively that this unity underlies the diversity. Rajasic knowledge confers on this diversity not an apparent but a real existence. It enables us to realise that there are others, other paths and so on, and leads us to a 'live and let live' policy Tamasic knowledge does not recognise any but its own point of view... But there exist several points of view, not just one.”

SWAMI VENKATESANANDA –“The deluded mind attaches false value to the objects of the world. The yogi will use a clod of earth to clean his hands, a stone to keep his papers from flying and a piece of gold to feed the hungry: but he has risen above the false sense of values. Each object's true value is its value in context. The man who cannot distinguish gold from mud is a mad man; one who sees the difference but is not affected by it, is a sage. He knows the tru
