There are many ways to make gold, farm rep or gain experience doing area of effect damage.
Only a few classes can do it efficiently such as the Mage class or warlock class.
Mages are by far the best followed by warlocks and Protection paladins.
Protection Paladins are the slowest of the bunch due to passive damage. They use reflective auras shield spikes and consecration for area of effect damage and heavy armor to survive the mob.
Warlocks use a pet to round up all the mobs and then seed of corruption and rain of fire to finish them or dot a few of them off but careful with threat generation.
For Mages there is an entire area of effect spec consisting of all Blizzard and slowing cold talents - no frostbite.
Using a Mount and Ice barrier to round the mobs up followed by ice nova to freeze them all in place. Then use blizzard to snare them and slow them.
Using that, Mages can level from 20 - 70 given the right spots. Its not that much faster then regular leveling but its pretty fun.
Now at 70 to make some extra cash you don't have that many choices of good packed spots with minimal caster mobs and good drops.
I have put together another Video to show some of the best spots for The Burning Crusade expansion. Not including instances.
You can basically choose between the Demon hunters atop the black temple, the Blood elfs at eclipse point, the consortium mobs at "Netherstorm" or many smaller mobs in the 60 zones.
Rounding them up is different for every class but usually a ranged pull or mounting up and riding by should do the trick.
After you have them all rounded up you activate any damage returning spells and use the area of effect spells your class is given. Such as consecrate for Paladins. Seed of corruption for Warlocks. frost nova, cone of cold and arcane explosion for Mages. After that just loot and repeat with a new spawn.
