We post modern types look down our noses at ancient cultures and anyone not quuite as technologically advanced as we. That would be nearly everyone- that we know. But are we any smarter? Are we more wise? Or do the mythological stories contain elements of truth that we're greatly missing?
Look at the Mayan nontechnological and myth-based culture!
Our science can't comprehend their math. Our astronomy can't match their astrology. Our chemistry can't match their alchemy. They knew about things deep within and things far out there that we'e still trying to get a grasp on and comprehend. They seemingly had a different form of knowledge. Where did it come from?
We need to get in sync with the past.
Mayans attained a precise awareness of cyclical patterns in human development based on their observations of the stars. Were they spiritually transported to places out there and then returned with the knowledge that they did? Or, were they visited from some place in space? Was there some sort of telepathic operations going on back then theta we've since lost: much like the Australian Dream Time that's being lost? Were they capable of time travel back then?
We are living in unprecedented times!
If we would but take the scientific and technological prowess that we've attained and balance it with the spiritual force with is with us, within us, and all around us, we might be able to better understand our world and their world. As Daniel Pinchbeck has written, "Our modern world was constructed on an irrational rationality, a reductive empiricism requiring a rigorous suppression of psyche, intuitive, and shamanic dimensions of being. While earlier civilizations and shamanic cultures may have been incapable of constructing a cell phone or an iPod, they did possess a participatory and holistic relationship to the universe, encapsulated in the alchemical catchphrase, as above, so below."
Where have we heard that before?
More importantly, when will we realize that we can't live without the glue of myths? When will we step out of the sand box of pride and go back in time where there are clues to our future- particularly as it relates to December 21, 2012.
