For descriptive writing, remembering visual details is quite a useful activity which allows one see out of the box and to find fresh and innovative perspective related to the assignment subject. This is a creative writing assignment that encourages the students to memorise the visuals of the whole day.

This is a chance that provides and enhances the learning, observing and writing skills of the students, it is fun to notice, observe and memorise the things around you.

Activity one involves; ask your students to close their eyes or go outside the room for a few minutes, place a few things before them and give them a chance to observe and learn for a specific time. Then, give them a question sheet to answer them.

•    Name the items placed before you

•    Guess and state the dimensions of the container, for instance, the size was bigger than the jug and smaller than drum

•    Guess the weight and describe it accordingly; not in actual measurements

•    Tell the exact number of items

•    How many looks similar to each other?

•    How many minutes have you studied the objects?

•    Tell the exact nature of the objects

•    What did you have for lunch last day?

•    How many vehicles were parked when you entered the college this morning?

•    What was the last thing you did tomorrow afternoon before lunch?

•    Which object interests you the most?

Now, you have gathered the visual details; follow the writing techniques required to be followed by a good writer. A good writer looks beyond the facts and observe things which are unusual to be noticed down. The details that surrounds you every day, are hard to remember, but are good to provide grounds to your work.

Random questions prepare one to observe and write the interesting details by answering them. Descriptions make your writing alive. The description allows one to go beyond the basic structure, because words have a power to set reader’s mind. Once you are done with your assignment writing; make sure to proof read it.
