Mathew 13 talks about the parable of the sower. It tells of how a sower went forth to put seed on the ground. Some of it fell by the wayside and died. Others fell on rocky ground and died after some time. This was because it had no good foundation for the roots. Others fell among thorns and others fell on good ground. The ones that fell among thorns are the ones we are going to look at today. Jesus when he taught used parables for he said he that not to all is it given to know the mysteries of the Kingdom of God. But today, God has given you and I power to know and understand the mysteries of his Kingdom in Christ Jesus. When one receives the word of God, that is the seed that has been sown in his life. Do you guard that word from the evil one? His mandate on earth is to steal, destroy and kill. When we receive the word, we are supposed to practice it out there in the world. Our lives should portray God's word in us. The cares and deceitfulness of riches of this world are the weeds. If we allow these cares to dominate our lives, the word in us will be choked and die. You cannot serve God and mammoth, therefore the word of God in your life will die out. Lets us not be deceived by the riches and cares of this world for they are temporary. Lets build our lives on the the rock Jesus Christ. Lets seek treasures that last forever. Treasures that bring true joy and happiness. Treasures in heaven.
