The world is full of spirit guides and other spirits. For one thing, as practically every religion in the world believes, we are spirits. Although we tend to believe that we are ?real? and move about in a ?real?, solid world; in fact this is indeed merely a belief we have. The ?real? world is no more ?real? than our dreams (which we believe are ?real? too ? as least so long as we are still dreaming). Most spirits are useless to human beings. It isn?t even possible to have spirit communication with such entities since they are on altogether different wavelengths than we are. There are also spirits which are extremely nasty, which should definitely be avoided since they suck energy from us. And there are other spirits which are of great help to people, who can be useful in many ways. An example are nature spirits such as tree and water spirits, who can help us to relax, feel lighter, and to lose our self-importance (our driving sense of urgency and intranquility). Just going out to nature spirits for a half-hour or so everyday ? making that space of peace for ourselves in the midst of all of our hustle and bustle ? helps us to tune in to true feelings of joy and belonging in the world. In addition to nature spirits, there are spirits who are overseers of special activities and branches of knowledge, such as art, agriculture, cooking, construction, mathematics, healing, metallurgy, music, and so on. Every human activity has a group of spirits which guide individual practitioners of the art, craft, or science; and which also assist the human race to progress and expand its knowledge. Inspired, competent practitioners in any field of endeavor are always receiving new ideas and inspiration from the special spirit overseers of their fields. Many such practitioners are quite aware that the inspiration they receive doesn?t originate within them but comes from spirit communication: many healers, even allopathic medical doctors, know quite well that they are merely channels for healing energy from ?out there?. Competent professionals in all fields are merely good channels for the spirit overseers of their field.
Spirit guides and other personal ?angels? are spirits who are ?assigned? to individual humans to assist them in their personal lives and spiritual journey. Everyone has one or more spirit guides; most people have several of them, which in the course of a lifetime may come and go. Although both spirit guides and thought forms can be channeled (for example, by automatic writing), in fact spirit guides and thought forms are completely different. Thought forms are inside of us; they are the repetitive thoughts, habits, beliefs, attitudes, etc. which our parents and our society have inculcated into us. They are most definitely alive, in the sense of having wills of their own and a strong desire to survive (which is why we find our habitual thoughts so obsessive and compelling). But we are the creators of our thought forms, and they die when we do. Spirit guides, by contrast, are outside and above us: they are wiser, more open-hearted, and they don?t die when we die. Some spirit guides have incarnated as human beings: deceased ancestors, relatives, friends, or even fetuses which have been aborted, can become a person?s spirit guides. One of my own spirit guides has told me that there are realities and lives in which I serve as her spirit guide.
Up until the recent past ? particularly since the so-called Enlightenment of the eighteenth century when the human race lost its connection to nature and became hopelessly mired in materialism ? the knowledge of magic was handed from generation to generation, just as the knowledge of agriculture or mathematics is. However, because of the Zeitgeist, most of this knowledge of magical arts and spirit communication was lost as practitioners died leaving no heirs. Indeed, today practitioners reviving these arts are regarded as flakes who are fooling themselves. That is why the Great White Brotherhood of spirit guides and angels came into being, to help humanity make it through its decadent, materialistic phase.
