Therapeutic essential oils have far more benefits than simply smelling lovely. When used correctly, therapeutic essential oils have the ability to help your body fight various conditions, boost your immune system and provide pain relief. If you currently use oils to scent your home, it’s possible that you’re using therapeutic essential oils without even realizing the side benefits you are gaining from their use.

Therapeutic essential oils should be extracted by non-toxic means, and bottled in their undiluted form. If a retailer is unable to tell you whether or not the essential oils they sell are of a therapeutic grade, then look elsewhere for your therapeutic essential oils.

True therapeutic essential oils will be anti-viral and anti-bacterial at a minimum, though many have other properties as well, which is why they are so versatile. Most anti-biotics can treat only one thing, or one group of viruses. Therapeutic essential oils have the ability to help treat many conditions, and are completely natural.

There are many ways to use therapeutic essential oils. They can be placed in a burner or diffuser so that the oils are inhaled. They can be placed into a bath to completely submerge in their healing powers. Or they can be used in massage, so that you get the benefit of the oils along with the relief found in massage.

Because therapeutic essential oils are so potent, it’s important that you use them correctly. If you’re just starting out, make sure to either buy a good aromatherapy book, or search the internet for information regarding how therapeutic essential oils should be used.

With few exceptions, therapeutic essential oils will need to be diluted in a carrier oil. This way, the oils can then safely be used on the skin. To ensure the long life of therapeutic essential oils, they should be kept in a cool, dark area. Dark glass vials are the best storage containers, as glass doesn’t interfere with the oil properties.

As the popularity of aromatherapy continues to grow, so does the quality of therapeutic essential oils. To receive the maximum health benefit from aromatherapy, make sure that you purchase only therapeutic essential oils, and always follow the guidelines for a particular oil.

There is plenty of information available on the internet, and a good aromatherapy book will steer you in the right direction. When used correctly, therapeutic essential oils will enhance your life and help to keep you in prime health condition.
