The Transcendental Meditation procedure is a natural, simplistic, relaxation technique performed in the seated position, eyes closed. This technique guides ones' mind to discover a truly balanced state of mind, to find the source of ones' thoughts, known simply as Transcendental Consciousness. This is a total, intentional consciousness, the essence of all creative outpourings. As a general rule, Transcendental Meditation is performed for approximately fifteen to twenty minutes per session, first to greet the day in the morning, and once again at the end of the day.
As you start your journey with transcendental meditation, you'll begin to notice a raised awareness of everything around you, you will find you are in control of your energy and levels of focus, and open yourself up to levels of self-development potential you've never experienced before, allowing you to set and achieve goals in a clear state of mind.
As you become more accustomed to Transcendental Meditation, you will start to develop your dormant potentials of creativity by eliminating the high level of stress and fatigue through the extremely calming effect that is gained through the performance. Practicing Transcendental Meditation awakens the person?s creative leanings, dynamism, organizing strength, and orderliness. As you progress and continue to explore this meditative state, you'll notice yourself becoming more organized, level-headed, and able to adapt to situations you may not have dealt with so well in the past.
The fundamentals of Transcendental Meditation are essentially based on science, thus neither asking for adherence to a particular mode of belief nor adopting a specific lifestyle. The performance does not require any intense levels of concentration or extreme effort on your behalf. The system can easily be learned by anyone because no one is asked to posses a special ability. Any one of any age from any educational stream, religion, culture, and place through out the world can learn the procedures and everyone will reap similar benefits from Transcendental Meditation.
Having said that, studies have been conducted to show that Transcendental Meditation can potentially produce negative results. A scientist of an American teaching center said that the entire process of this form of meditation could be very risky to the mental constitution of certain kinds of people. The level of risk would depend on the time length the person has been doing Transcendental Meditation.
As with any and all 'new-age' self development methods, Transcendental Meditation does have it's critics, particularly in relation to some of the core beliefs and values. For the open minded indivdual ready to embark on a journey of self-development, you can simply use the proven meditation techniques and make your own decisions about these 'controversial' policies. Just like any religion, club or technique, the ability to approach this meditation technique with your own perspective is what makes it so unique, and what puts the enjoyment and envolvment factor in your hands.
An example of the policies we're talking about here is the Seat Of Divinity; going by the word of the Tenets, the main entranceway of the building should be east facing and all rooms should be constructed in a circular manner, with an area in the middle dedicated to being the 'Seat of Divinity' - Clearly an aspect of Trancendental Meditation you can make your own decision on.
It is true that the form of Transcendental Meditation had seen lots of criticism on one hand, with many loyal followers using the meditation technique to improve their lives each and every day. Finally it could be said that whether an individual wishes to practice Transcendental Meditation or not is solely depended on his personal belief, practice and approach to this science and the benefits that he or she can reap from it would build conviction.
