Have you ever been asked the question, "Why do you believe that"? There are some BELIEFS to which that question can be affixed that make answering really difficult. Like, why do you believe that the earth is the only place in the multiplicity of universes where life exists: life as we know it. Or, why don't you believe in reincarnation?
How about this one, why do you believe in the Bible?
The general answer is because it is God's word. And who told you that? Why did you CHOOSE to believe that what they told you was TRUE? Or, why do you believe that every word in the Bible is infallible, literal, and inerrant? Why do we believe some of the things that we do? Aren't these valid questions? And if FAITH is the answer, even BLIND FAITH, so be it.
It's YOUR CHOICE!
People believe all sorts of things. Some BELIEFS are a lot more realistic, rational, and believable. Some aren't.
Let me get personal and share with you why I believe some things that I do. I believe the Bible is sacred and profitable for this journey of life that we all must take because it resonates within my spirit and my EXPERIENCES validate the principles stated therein. I believe the Bible is fallible because it is full of contradictions and errors, but they in no way change the sacredness any more than my mistakes in life deny my real existence.
I believe that God is LOVE and that ALL will return to the Source from which they came (read NO HELL) because that's how BIG my God is. Many choose and believe in what I call a "loser God" who has the majority of people going to hell but of course those who profess such say it's not God's fault because the people had free choice and God was long-suffering before he allowed the majority of humanity to suffer eternally.
I just can't go there. It makes no sense to me. God who created ALL couldn't come up with a plan where he'd at least SAVE the majority of those He created. It sounds so sadistic to me to believe THAT! So, when people ask my "Why I believe THAT" (whatever THAT might be), I always err on the side of God being big enough to WIN; otherwise, why even call that Being a God?
Why do you BELIEVE, when you can KNOW?
Don't get too serious on me now! :-)
