Paladin can be a versatile character to play in World of Warcraft. Follow this Wow Paladin guide to see if you want to play one. Paladins will either be a DPS, a healer, or a tank, depending on which tree you choose. There are many advantages and disadvantages for a Paladin choosing each of these. When you start out, Paladin will be easy to solo. You will be able to take on most enemies, and you will be able to go on autopilot when you solo.
From the beginning, Paladins get a wide variety of weapons and armor to choose from. Defense and stamina need to be considered when selecting your gear. These will be your two most important attributes to keep high. Stamina is about how much damage you can take. Boosting this will give you more hit points as well as boosting your defense. Defense is all about how much it takes before you receive any damage.
You can either choose single hand or two handed weapons.. You may choose two-hand weapons if you solo a lot. The advantage to single hand weapons is the ability to equip a shield. Single-hand weapons are a great choice for tanking .You will also be able to choose maces or swords. Using swords will give you edged weapon damage. You will do bashing damage using maces. You will be able to choose from one or two handed weapons, for each of these types. My personal choice is to use two handed swords and one handed maces. No ranged attacks is the top disadvantage to leveling a Paladin. This is not a problem once you start to PUG. This can make it interesting to solo.
Paladins also have a unique trio of spell types to choose from. Blessings can boost single target player’s abilities and stats for a wide range of status effects. Auras work similarly but work as an Area of Effect around the Paladin. Seals are self-cast status boosts, with a Judgment to release the energy of the seal upon the enemy for a larger debuff effect, or damage depending on the Seal used. One note to remember with blessings, auras, and seals is you can only have one of each active at a time. Casting another one will override what is currently active.
The determining factor of what type of Paladin you will be is choosing the right talent tree. If you use the Protection tree, you will primarily be a tank. It focuses on single hand weapons with shields, and defense plus stamina boosts. You will do DPS and tanking if you choose the Retribution talent tree. This is also the best tree to use for PvP and soloing. If you want to be one of the best single target healers in the game, Holy is the talent tree for you. It focuses on healing and threat reduction. During the early stages, when you are soloing to level up you can even play with combining different talent trees. If you choose to change your talents later, it will cost you gold to do it. You will be able to do this, if you can find a trainer.
