I Can Do It! 2008 Conference Review in Las Vegas

The I Can Do It! Conference, put on yearly by Hay House, recently celebrated its 21st anniversary by bringing in motivational speakers from all parts of the country. Guest speakers covered topics like infinite love and gratitude, the journey of a soul, secrets to success, prosperity, spirit animals and happiness.

This was the second time I attended this inspirational conference and I was able to gain new insights about my spiritual growth and well-being. I attended the workshop on Saturday, where I was able to hear two of the guest speakers of my choosing as well as the morning keynote speaker.

The morning keynote speaker was Robert Holden, PH.D, and his workshop was entitled “Happiness Now!” The lecture he gave was interesting in that he spoke about always wanting more and how our consumer culture leaves us feeling like we never have enough, especially when it comes to material items, money and how we view our financial status. He then gave an example of an interview conducted with some wealthy American citizens, most of which were millionaires or billionaires. When he asked them about how much money they made and if they were satisfied, they confessed they were not and wished to acquire even more money than the already exorbitant amounts that they had. He discussed how infomercials affect the general public and how he had succumbed to one such advertisement for cooking ware when he first came to America, having been naïve about the lure of the infomercial and intrigued by this revolutionary new cooking product. Overall, he gave a speech that I thoroughly enjoyed, which he injected with thought-provoking examples and his own unique color of humor.

The next speaker was chiropractor Dr. Darren Weissman whose workshop was called “The Power of Infinite Love and Gratitude”. In this workshop, he spoke about the power of infinite love and gratitude and how it influences our lives on a daily basis. One of his family members, who is also a chiropractor, is deaf and is a graduate of the Palmer College of Chiropractic. He taught Dr. Weissman how to sign “infinite love and gratitude” in American Sign Language, which Dr. Weissman enthusiastically shared with his audience at the conference. Dr. Weissman is a firm believer that the power of love can transcend just about anything and it has the ability to heal one’s emotional as well as physical wounds from whatever a person has experienced. He practices the Lifeline Technique, which is a specialized integrative healing system used to control and assess one’s mind, body and spirit. Muscle testing is then used to identify the root of the cause whether it is physical, emotional, structural, spiritual or biochemical. Once this cause is identified, it can be released and the healing process is able to begin. Anything is able to be released including but not limited to: illness, chronic pain, fear, anxiety and relationship issues. I enjoyed his speech overall because it taught me new ways in which I am able to self-heal through the power of infinite love and gratitude.

The last workshop of the day that I attended was by Loretta LaRoche whose workshop was entitled “Relax – You May Only Have a Few Minutes Left!” She was definitely my favorite speaker of the day because of her infectious enthusiasm and endless energy. She spoke about how important it is for everyone to de-stress throughout the day, especially when we wake up in the morning and how the first thoughts that enter our minds should be positive ones. She then made the entire audience get up and dance to the song “Mustang Sally” as an attempt to get our energy level boosted and discussed ways we can keep it that way throughout the day. Perhaps the most memorable moments of her speech was when she told us to keep a list of “power words” by our beds and use a new word or phrase every day with the people you encounter. So when someone asks how you are doing, respond with, “I feel succulent today!”

I can’t wait to attend next year’s conference, so I can keep enjoying all of these wonderful speakers who make me feel like I have the power to do anything.
