In December 1833, members of the Treaty Party elected William Hicks as their Principal Chief (with John McIntosh as his assistant), though Major Ridge and son John Ridge were widely recognized as the true leaders of this faction. The front facade of the central block includes a recessed portico supported by square Doric columns. Enclosed porches are located on both sides of the rear of the central block. The house rests on a mostly limestone foundation, although the west wing rests on a brick foundation (possibly left over from the earlier Shields house). A split-run staircase in one of the rear porches provides access to the second story of the central block, which contains three bedrooms. The house has three cellars, one of which (under the central block) was used as a kitchen, and has three brick chimneys with post-and-lintel mantels.

The design of Rose Glen was modeled after architect Minard Lafever’s “Design for a Country Villa,” which appeared in both Lafever’s ”Modern Builders Guide” (1833) and ”Beauties of Modern Architecture” (1835). The design called for a “five-part” villa, consisting of the central block and two wings, and two symmetrically-placed outbuildings aligned with the house’s northeast and northwest corners. At Rose Glen, these two outbuildings— which were used as an office and a loom house— were connected to the main house by flower-lined walkways. The loom house and office have designs that match the house, with the same weatherboarding and

brick chimneys. A rose garden was maintained in the space between the outbuildings and the main house.

Outbuildings

Along with the loom house and Hodsden’s office, which were built as part of the “country villa,” surviving outbuildings at Rose Glen include a double-cantilever barn, smokehouse, springhouse/wellhouse, a hay barn, a concrete silo, and an outhouse. Hodsden added the smokehouse, Hodsden’s son-in-law Abraham Hicks probably built the springhouse and double-cantilever barn, and Hodsden’s grandson John Hodsden Hicks added the corn crib, silo, and rack-sided barn.

The smokehouse, constructed around 1850, is built of hewn logs and is accessed by a board and batten door with iron hinges. The double-cantilever barn, built late-19th century, is a double-pen barn retaining much of its original cantilevered form, although a tractor shed was later added to the barn. The hay barn, located across the street from the main house lot, is a rack-sided barn with a gambrel roof, built in the 1920s. With the exception of the smokehouse, all the outbuildings are frame structures.

Adapted from the Wikipedia article Rose Glen (Sevierville, Tennessee), under the G. N. U. The basic tenets of the teachings include that we create our own reality through our thoughts, that our emotions are constantly guiding us toward where we want to go, and that life is supposed to be fun. The essence of Abraham–Hicks’ teachings since 1986 has been presented as follows:

* You are a physical extension of that which is non-physical.

* You are here in this body because you chose to be here.

* The basis of your life is freedom; the purpose of your life is joy.

* You are a creator; you create with your every thought.

* Anything that you can imagine is yours to be or do or have.

* You are choosing your creations as you are choosing your thoughts.

* The Universe adores you, for it knows your broadest intentions.

* Relax into your natural well-being. All is well.

* You are a creator of thoughtways on your unique path of joy.

* Actions to be taken and money to be exchanged are by-products of your focus on joy.

* You may appropriately depart your body without illness or pain.

* You cannot die; you are everlasting life.
<div

She was the only person to appear in the film who received compensation.

The footage featuring Hicks was removed from the later “Extended Edition” after the film’s creator Rhonda Byrne, who has been involved in contractual disputes and litigation regarding the film, asked to rescind the original contract covering Hicks’ participation, leading Hicks to withdraw completely from the project. The conflict is reported as being primarily about intellectual property rights and money. According to an article in the New York Post, Hicks claims she did not receive a fair share of the film’s profits; however, in an open letter posted on the internet, Hicks stated:

”Financially speaking, we have been very well paid for our participation with this project… which has amounted to a staggering amount of money. I absolutely loved those books when I first read them, and even now, every once in awhile, I am inspired to open one if I am looking for an answer to a question. (That is another Manifestation exercise I will be writing about in the future. The strange and different places you can find answers to your personal questions.- sometimes it is simply opening a book to any page.)

Any way, when I first started reading these books I was of envious of Mr. Walsh. How awesome would that be?! I thought to myself. To simply write down a question and have “God” answer it. It would certainly save me a lot of time and frustration in doing hours of research in other ways. But I believed that “automatic writing” was a gift only given to certain people and I was just going to have to do it the old fashioned way until I became “enlightened” enough to be able to do it for myself.

The next time I saw something like that done was when I started listening to Abraham-Hicks. Only it was Jerry Hicks asking the questions and Abraham answering them through Esther Hicks. Again, I envied them. Wow! How cool to have that kind of guidance in front of you at all times and not have to wait for a conference to come around or pay a ton of money to have someone else answer my question.

You see, even though I was learning that “we are all God and all one” and that God, our high<div

My own “ego” voice. You know the one — the one that nags you all the time, the one that complains, insults you, puts you down. Also when I wrote, I would simply state purported facts “You know such and such did this to me and I got so mad. The next time they do that I am going to….whatever torture or belated comeback I could come up with.

What I hadn’t ever thought to do however was to simply “ask” a question and wait for an answer. As far as I was concerned I “had” all the answers about “me” and was just using writing as my way of complaining about it all.

Until one day when I was having a particularly hard time in a personal relationship. I was doing my usual bashing about how this person was selfish and mistreating me and made me so angry! While I don’t remember the exact question I asked, it was something like How am I going to get them to treat me the way I want to be treated? And then I just sat there for a moment and stopped writing because I didn’t have the answer. I pounded the return key twice on my keyboard (I write everything in a word processor nowadays by the way -it’s quicker) and just stared at the new blank line when suddenly I felt compelled to put my hands back on the keyboard and typed “What makes you think they are the one who needs to do the changing?”

I sat there confused for a minute because believe me, with as angry as I was, that thought hadn’t come from my ego. Heck I was the one being wronged here!

So my next typed line to myself was something like “What the hell is that supposed to mean?”

I hit the return twice again and waited.

I suddenly had the urge to type again and it said “What makes you think it is their job to make you happy? Only you can make you happy.”

After that we were off and running! And I’m happy to say I still do it today – everyday!

You see the second “voice” — the one that “answered” had a different tone to it. A deeper, lower, slower tone than my normal run-amok ego voice.

This “other” voice had a calming effect – a slow it down and take it easy kind of feel to it. It just simply felt like it was coming from a deeper place.

Now please don’t get me wrong. I am still not at the level that Esther Hicks is. I can’t effortlessly answer any question thrown at me by any person, but I found I can answer my own questions about my life from this deeper place and for now that is more than enough for me.

Maybe someday I will feel the urge to take it a step further. I know that it is possible to do it. I know that we all have access to “all the answers” and that with deeper meditations and practice I can accomplish it, but for now I haven’t felt that urge yet, so I am happy with where I am.

So if you would like to receive some of your personal answers…start asking the questions.

Take a few minutes of silence, grab a piece of paper or open a word document. Type out what your issue is and then directly ask a question and wait for the answer. Give it a few moments. If nothing pops into your head automatically prompt it a little. Like hello!? Have a question here! Where are you? And restate the question.

You might be very surprised at the answer that pops up! Don’t analyze it or second guess it. Just write down or type whatever comes to you.

How will you know the difference between your ego voice and higher self voice? When your higher self voice comes up with an answer your ego wouldn’t in a million years! When the answer feels deeper and somehow right, even though your ego might initially disagree with what the answer is.

Believe it or not I know immediately when my “I AM” voice is coming through because it always leads me back to my coffee. Anytime I sit down and start ranting about something it will stop me in my tracks and ask my how my coffee is or was this morning. I know… I know…sounds crazy.. but then again you don’t know how I feel about my coffee.

I LOVE my coffee in the morning and I appreciate it everyday. The smell, the warmth of the cup and the taste of it. So when I sit down and start typing furiously about some issue I am having and I start getting into an emotional rant, my deeper voice will stop me in my tracks and ask “so how good is that coffee you are drinking?” Like I said I know it sounds crazy but that always stops my rant immediately and makes me laugh with appreciation for my stupid cup of coffee. Then I calm down and get the answers I am looking for.

So give it a shot. You have nothing to lose. Simply write out your question and wait for your higher self to answer. You will be surprised at some of the awesome things you can learn!

Happy Creating!

Janeen Clark is a Spiritual Life Coach who has been teaching, studying and applying the Law of Attraction for almost 20 years.

By: Stephen Winters
There are many Abraham-Hicks processes for abundance, too many to include in a single article. So, here (following my investigation of many forums, blogs and websites) are five that have proven to be particularly popular and effective.

1) Which Thought Feels Better? This is a simple process for generating positive thoughts. The more positive thoughts you generate, the less room there is for negative thoughts and the more positive thoughts become second nature to you. Think about an aspect of your life you feel needs some improvement. List five thoughts that relate to it. Which of those five thoughts made you feel better? Keep that thought, scratch out the others. Now, you need to come up with a thought that makes you feel even better in relation to this aspect of your life. Keep doing it until you have five thoughts, each making you feel better than the last.

2) Segment Intending. This is essentially about breaking your intentions down into small, manageable and, most importantly, immediate goals. So, for example, immediately before you go into a job interview, you set the intention that the interview will go well and you will be confident and articulate. It’s important to note here, that you are not pursuing the goal of ‘getting the job’, because that is a future outcome. You are purely looking at immediate intentions and results.

3) The Book of Positive Aspects. The purpose of this process is to increase our positivity perception. Using a notebook (your Book of Positive Aspects), pick a subject. It can be a person or an activity (your job, for example), but the exercise will be more effective if you pick something you don’t feel particularly good about. List all the positive things about your chosen subject. You’ll find there are more than you imagined. With practice, you’ll also find yourself finding ways to ‘re-describe’ negative aspects of your subject in a positive way. For example, your supervisor no longer ‘gives you hard time’, instead he or she ‘tests, and consequently strengthens, your patience’.

4) Magical Creation Box. This process helps you focus on what you want and creates a real sense of anticipation that these things are imminent. You can either buy a beautiful looking box or you can make one using materials from an arts and crafts shop. Either way, the box needs to look special in some way. Label it your ‘Magical Creation Box’. In the box put symbols of all the things you want. Images cut from magazines and catalogues work well. For example, an image of a sandy beach from a vacation brochure can be used to symbolise an exotic holiday. Add to and revisit your box often.

5) The Prosperity Game. Each day, imagine you receive a check for $100. Imagine spending the money. All of it: no savings or investments are allowed. Really visualise making your purchases and enjoying them. The next day a check for $200 arrives. Repeat the same process. Each day a new check arrives for double the amount of the previous ($400, $800, $1600, $3200 and so on). This process helps you to achieve wealth perception. It prepares you for the receipt of wealth. If you aren’t prepared for wealth, do you think it will really come to you?

Good luck.

For a wide range of products relating to The Law of Attraction, visit The Happiness Superstore.

By: Gary Evans
Do you believe that you have a life purpose or destiny? If so, how can you best fulfill it? And how do you know if you are moving towards it or away from it? What you should realize is that any life purpose you have is not something decided for you by someone else, even by God or the universe. It is something that you find and create for yourself. So the way you know if you are moving towards or away from it is very simple -you will know by how various activities make you feel.

Finding your life purpose is really finding what your are most passionate about, and what makes you feel most alive and like you are living up to your potential. This can be almost anything, and it varies widely from one person to another. To one person, for example, having a farm and getting up before dawn to care for animals is their life’s dream, while working in an office all day, say as a lawyer, would be pure drudgery. To someone else, the exact opposite is true. It’s all a question of “following your bliss,” as Joseph Campbell put it.

If you feel that you are doing things that are not connected to your true purpose, it’s time to pay attention to what you really enjoy. Some people assume that what is fun for them is simply trivial, and that they could not possibly make a living from it. This is very seldom the case, especially today, when people make money creating computer games, writing fantasy novels, baking desserts, playing music and so forth.

The important thing is not that you make money at doing what you love, but that you make time to do it. Another well known saying (not sure who said this first), “Do what you love, the money will follow.” If you think about it, however, even if you never make a lot of money from something, if you truly feel passionate about it, it is worth pursuing. And if you truly follow through on what you love and are determined to make it a larger and larger part of your life, there will certainly be a way to make it a livelihood.

You have to start somewhere. Take a class in something you are really interested in. Read books on the subject. Join online discussion forums. See if you can join a local group in your area on the subject. If none exists, start one. Preferably find time every day, if only a few minutes, to devote some time to your passion, whether it’s drawing in a sketchbook, writing a poem, cooking, playing a sport or learning a musical instrument.

Now even when you are truly following your life’s purpose, you will not find every detail in the pursuit fascinating. There are usually certain parts of anything that you may find boring or tedious. The difference between this and an activity that is not at all in alignment with your life’s purpose is in how you imagine the outcome. If, for example, you very much want to learn to play the piano, you will find the idea of being an accomplished pianist very exciting, even if you sometimes tire of practicing the same notes over and over again.

On the other hand, let’s say you have a job as a cashier and you really don’t like it very much. You may find that there is no future possibility involving operating a cash register that excites you. So this is, most likely, not your life’s purpose. Yet if you find time to practice the piano every night after working at the cash register, you can use that to make the “boring” activity more tolerable. If you make it a point to identify your life’s passions (usually there is more than one!) and making time to pursue them, you will gradually start to see everything you do as being of service to your greater purpose.

Manifesting Reality Isn’t Hard Work After All

Get your free report on manifesting using the Law of Attraction right now by visiting: http://www.ManifestMiracle.com/report/

No related posts.

What is the Vortex? When I’m in the vortex I can do anything. When I’m in the vortex I feel eager. When I’m in the vortex I love myself… It feels like power, it feels like clarity, it feels like love, it feels like solution…” -Esther Hicks

What is the vortex? I have seen this question a lot of times in the forums I used to visit. The word vortex is new for me, too. I have spent the last five weeks reading and hearing all the material I’ve found about the vortex and here it is what I have learned.

Abraham and Esther Hicks talk this concept in one of their books, The Vortex. They say, “When you ask for something everything that is necessary for the fulfillment of this that you have asked for is being summoned to the vortex. The vortex is the ‘vibrational place’ (escrow) where you are accumulating all the things you have asked since you were born. Nobody has access to it but you. Nobody can get in and take your things. You need to get in the vortex to get all the things you want. When you are in the vortex you are in this magical swirl of all things working out for you.”

I want to simplify this and say that the “vortex” – for me – is just another word to describe HAPPINESS.

Happiness is a state of mind – Vortex is an emotional state of being.

This is the state when you feel happiness, success, love, solutio

n, gratitude, power, and all the good things about life. When you see the positive side and you feel you have the power to bring everything you want to your life.

The Hicks’ say that it is natural to be in the vortex. You just need to observe a child to confirm this. Children are always happy and showing their emotions. They don’t have negative feelings. We have learned all the negative emotions through the years. Negative emotions are an indication that you are not in the vortex.

How to get in the vortex? Bring positive thoughts to your mind, feel all the good emotions, visualize your happy life and live that life as if it is happening NOW. Look for things to appreciate every day, things that make you feel good. Touch them, enjoy them, give permission for your emotions to flow, and expect more good things to come. You are your feelings, you are your thoughts, you are your emotions, you CREATE your reality.

Ways to get in the vortex

Positive affirmations and afformations “I feel great today.” “Today is a beautiful day.” “Why am I so happy today?” Why do I attract only good things to me?” .

Positive thoughts. Be aware of your thoughts. Try to identify negative and positive thoughts. When you have negative thoughts analyze them; why are you thinking that? Does it help to feel better? What is the purpose of thinking that? And try to change it for a positive one.

Happy feelings/emotions. A positive thought always follows a positive feeling or emotion. Don’t be afraid to feel and express your emotions. Release all the energy you have inside you: laugh, cry, shout… but hey, we are taking about GOOD emotions (if you have negative ones, turn them into positive ones before you express them:-)

Positive attitude. A positive attitude makes a big difference in our lives. We can develop our positive attitude with a few guidelines.

Having gratitude We can be grateful for everything we get or happen to us, even though the things we ask for may not have come yet. for the little things in life.

When you are in the vortex you can have a wonderful relationship, you can have the job of your dreams, you can live the life you want, you can have all YOU want and be happy. Being in the vortex is to be “ready” (emotionally) to attract what you want and you are getting it NOW. Are you in the vortex now?

Patricia Anaya, creator of http://www.brainywoman.com, has a passion for creating projects that help people, especially women and children. “brainywoman.com opens up a lot of possibilities to touch women’s lives and help them to improve self-esteem.” She’s also passionate about offering the very best in content and commentary, humor and high-quality merchandise that supports brainywoman.com’s signature motto, Love Yourself!

Who is Abraham?

Abraham, for those who are not familiar with them, is a group of non-physical consciousnesses that speak through Esther Hicks (by a process that some would call channelling, although they never use that term). Esther and her husband Jerry spend most of their lives travelling around the US giving seminars in which guests can ask Abraham questions about their personal situations. Abraham is refreshingly non-dogmatic, and the emphasis in their approach is on helping people to tune into their own inner guidance, rather than relying on the advice or rules of others. They have also published a number of books, which consist of Abraham’s information in a pure, unedited form, written down by Esther. Abraham has become increasingly well-known over the last couple of years, as information about the law of attraction has become more mainstream.

Ask and it is Given: Learning to Manifest Your Desires was published in 2004, and was Abraham-Hicks’ third non-fiction book (after A New Beginning, Volumes I & II). Ask and it is Given is one of my favourite Abraham-Hicks books, and I think it is especially valuable for those who are new to Abraham, as it covers all of their basic concepts in lots of detail, but is also very clear and readable.

What’s in the book?

Ask and it is Given starts off with a comprehensive introductory section in which Jerry and Esther explain how they came to be acquainted with Abraham, and should be of interest to anyone w
<img

However, it doesn’t matter if you’re sceptical about the whole non-physical/channelling aspect; the information in this book can be of value to anyone, regardless of where it comes from.

After the introduction, the book is split into two major sections. The first provides general information about the role of consciousness in reality creation, and about life’s basic purpose, while the second part is more practically oriented, with each chapter giving details of a specific ‘process’ or technique which you can use to help you to manifest your desires.

The 22 chapters in the first part of the book are clearly laid out, and are very positive and uplifting in tone. Topics covered here include the general purpose of life (which is to enjoy it!); the vibrational nature of the universe and our own power as creators of our own realities; the fact that we can be, do and have everything we want; guidance for releasing inner resistance and allowing our desires to manifest quickly and easily; and, in particular, the importance of our emotional guidance system, to which we must listen if we are to align with our desires in the most effective way.

In Ask and it is Given, Abraham introduces the idea of the emotional scale, which consists of 22 levels of emotion in hierarchical order (with the most negative at the bottom, and the most positive at the top). Simply put, when we feel good, we are in alignment with our desires and our ‘Inner Being’ (what some would call the universe, higher self, Source energy, God, etc). Abraham points out that when we are in a very negative state, it is too much of a vibrational leap to try to feel really good immediately (e.g. there’s no point trying to go straight from despair or anger to joy), so it is necessary to work your way up the scale at a comfortable pace. In this way, we can change our feelings – and thus our point of attraction – in relation to any subject that is important to us.

Discussion of this emotional scale forms the core of the book, and the second half of Ask and it is Given describes in detail each of the 22 processes that can be used to travel back up the emotional scale, from any starting point. Some of these processes are general in nature, and some are intended for use relative to specific topics, such as money or health. And there’s no need to try to do them all – they are designed for use by people who are difference points on the emotional scale, and so not all of them will be useful in all situations; the idea is that you select the process that best matches where you are to begin with, in terms of your feelings. Abraham recommends following your inner guidance and just doing the processes(s) that intuitively feel the most appealing. There’s never any need to force yourself to do something that doesn’t feel good, just because it’s supposedly beneficial. That’s one thing I really like about Abraham’s approach – theres none of the ‘you’ve got to suffer to get results’ type of mentality that one often finds in self-help and metaphysical material of this type. Personally, I’ve found Abraham’s emotional scale and the associated processes to be enormously helpful in aligning with my desires in many areas of my life, and with just feeling better in general.

Who will like it?

So that is Ask and it is Given in a nutshell: you are 100% responsible for creating your reality and – as the title suggests – you get everything you ask for. Your real work is in coming into vibrational alignment with your desires, and the emotional scale and the processes help you to do this. It is a very simple book really, yet richly detailed and very readable and uplifting. Will Ask and it is Given be useful for you too? Maybe, if you’re open-minded and can accept that life is about joy (not suffering, or proving worthiness, or being super-productive and hard working, or any of the other stuff society tries to make us all believe). If you’re familiar with The Secret and other material on law of attraction, you might like Abraham too, particularly if you were left unsatisfied by the explanations given by these other authors. Abraham is, in my opinion, the best source of information on law of attraction and reality creation that’s available, as they go into so much detail, and way beyond anything that human writers, with their more limited perspective, generally deal with (if incessant talk of ‘vibrations’ and ‘energy’ scares you off, you probably won’t like Abraham!). And those who are already familiar with Abraham will love it too, as it so neatly encapsulates what they’re about. Die-hard sceptics who think anything to do with law of attraction and the power of the mind is a load of bunk will hate it, but they probably won’t be attracted to it anyway!

I’m always a bit suspicious of reviews that have nothing bad at all to say about a product, but in this case, there really is nothing about this book that I felt was lacking. Whether you love your life, and want to keep it that way or make it even better, or you have some real ‘problems’ that you need to resolve, this book has the tools that can help. So if you’re open-minded and willing to take total responsibility for creating your own experience, Ask and it is Given could be perfect for you.

L Knight is webmaster of http://www.wealthattractor.com, a site dedicated to exploring the workings of law of attraction in relation to money and other forms of abundance. The Wealth Attractor approach is strongly influenced by the Abraham-Hicks material, and begins from the premises that life should be easy, free and joyful, and that money flows in response to vibrational alignment, rather than hard work and struggle.

No related posts.
