I get many requests for information about Angels. In times of crisis people tend to start thinking about Angels, guardian and otherwise and wether or not they have the protection of one and so on. Many peope feel that there is something or someone missing in their lives, even though, seemingly, they have all the comforts and neccessities of life. This missing entity is their Guardian Angel. This gap can never be filled by a human or material possesions. Our angels are meant to be with us, by our sides at all times. It is due to our own modern-day failings that we fail to recognise them. Our angels never leave us, but they are distanced by us and are often dismayed and slow to react when suddenly we find we need them after all.

It is natural enough to look for angelic protection in times of trouble – but often the crisis is upon us before we even start to think of our Angels. Our Angels are with everyone one of us when we are born, we talk to them as children – our ‘invisible friends’. Most of us lose contact with our Angels as we grow up, which is a great shame – for they are never far away – we just don’t how to see them anymore. I too, like so many people, lost contact with my Angel – fortunately, realising this, I regained him a few years ago. He is now my constant companion, and in times of trouble I know I am never alone. We can all regain our Angel – we just need to know how..

The concept of the guardian angel is one that has been present for centuries across a number of different cultures and belief systems. From the Ancient Greek civilization to modern day, theologians across the world are faced with the problem of identifying whether or not guardian angels exist and, if so, in what form they are present. While there is a wealth of empirical, anecdotal evidence of the presence of guardian angels, how can the idea of a guardian angel be defined?

Trying to define a guardian angel is an awkward process, the process of finding a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach is tricky to say the least. The starting point for the definition must come from stories and personal accounts from those claiming to have encountered some form of spiritual guidance in the form of a protective angel or some other celestial being. Generally in Western belief systems, guardian angels are interpreted and indeed depicted as human-like beings sent from heaven to protect and guide their pupils.

The Bible draws reference to angels on a number of occasions, particularly in the Old Testament – some 299 references, in fact. On that basis, it is easy to understand that the concept of the angel or the guarding force makes up a part of the Christian faith. But what about other belief systems, and do guardian angels exist in other cultures?

Since the ancient civilizations, angels have been depicted as winged figures, and generally acknowledged to exist within their respective belief systems. Through the ages, there have been occurrences of guardian angels and

So what is a guardian angel? Is it some spiritual, winged body on a mission to guide us through life? Or does it come in more ‘down-to-earth’ forms? Could you be a guardian angel? Is it a metaphor for the way we should lead our lives? Why are we not all closely acquainted with our angels? Or perhaps we are, and we just don’t realize it?

Unfortunately there is no real way to fully define a guardian angel, and determining if they exist and to what extent is bordering the impossible. For some people, an angel may be a loved one, or someone who has helped them survive a rough experience in their personal lives. For others, it may be something more spiritual, in the traditional religious sense of the term. It may even be something as simple as a wider metaphor for how we should interact with others and how we should develop our sense of morality and justice. Guardian angels are a controversial topic, and opinion on whether or not they exist is very much divided. On one hand, there are those that reject the claims of anything spiritual and suggest that there is no logical possibility of some divine body protecting and guarding individuals from harm, while the opposing side swear from personal experience and anecdotal evidence that there is without a doubt some third party protector who has intervened in their lives or altered their path dramatically. Either way, establishing the presence of guardian angels is no easy task.

Proving categorically whether or not guardian angels exist is impossible, because proving faith at any level is impossible; it isn’t called ‘faith’ for nothing. However, by working with arguments from both sides of the fence, it may be possible to hypothesize more accurately the status of the guardian angel and whether it is feasible that angels may exist and have the ability to impact our lives.

The anti-spiritual camp tends to approach guardian angels and the concept of faith generally with the same disdain. They suggest that the concept of the guardian angel seems anomalous with other aspects of the Christian faith, such as that all men are created equal – why then should only some be able to avail themselves of this divine protection? Another common suggestion is that the concept of guardian angels derives from the Bible, which it says is a less than authoritative text on a logic and facts-based point of view, with only the written word to prove or disprove their existence.

The account of things on the spiritual side is less conclusive and coherent than their non-believing counterparts. But that’s not without good reason. The experience of a guardian angel is one that is truly personal; so it is more important to gather evidence and accounts from those claiming to have had such experiences. Interestingly those who do claim to have come into contact with guardian angels seem to come from a broad cross-section of society, and they tend to have very little in common with their contemporaries other than their spiritual experience. In fact, some of those having experienced guardian angels were themselves previously sceptical about their existence and disputed the role of spirituality and religion.

For either side of the guardian angel debate, the other’s reasoning is hard to follow and abhorrent to their respective belief systems. Whether or not guardian angels exist, it seems the only way to join the believers’ side is to experience it first hand, through the testimony of someone close to you who experienced a guardian angel, or the intervention of some holy body in the way you live you life.

What is apparent is that whether or not you believe in guardian angels, there will never and can never be any definitive proof on either side as to their existence and their role in faith and our day-to-day lives.

The meaning of verse 7:19

And, Allah said, ‘O Adam, dwell, you and your wife, Eve, in the Garden, and eat from whence in Paradise you will, but do not come near this tree, to eat of it; lest you become evildoers and wrong-doers’.  In other words, do not eat from this tree lest you become of those who harm themselves.

The meaning of verse 7:20

Then Satan, Iblis, whispered to them that he might manifest, reveal, to them that which was hidden to them of

In other words, Iblis said to them: (Your Lord forbade you) O Adam and Eve (from this tree only lest ye should become angels) who teach good and evil in Paradise (or become of the immortals) in Paradise: this is why He forbade you to eat from the tree.

This indicates that Satan knows the man’s weak point and man loves to have kingdom and to be immortal

The meaning of verse 7:21

And he swore to both of them, that is, he swore to both of them by Allah, ‘Truly, I am a sincere adviser to you’, in this matter; in my oath that this is the tree of immortality.

The meaning of verse 7:22

Thus he did lead them on, to eat from the tree with guile, with falsehood and lies until they ate from it. Thus Satan did debase them in their status, by delusion, on his part.

And when they tasted of the tree their shame, their nakedness was manifest to them and they began out of shame to hide by heaping on themselves some of the leaves of the Garden.  In other words, their shameful parts were manifested to them, that is, the front private part of each was revealed to the other, as well as their behinds — each of these parts is called, ‘shameful’, because its exposure ‘shames’ that person, and they began to piece together, they began to stick, onto themselves some of the leaves of the Garden, to cover themselves up therewith.

And their Lord called them: O Adam and Eve, saying: Did I not forbid you from that tree, from eating of that tree and tell you: Lo! Satan, Iblis, is an open enemy to you whose enmity is quite manifest?

In other words, Allah called them: ‘Did I not prohibit you from this tree, and say to you, “Verily Satan is a manifest enemy to you”?’, one whose enmity is evident? Herein, the interrogative is meant as an affirmative.

QARIB: ‘o Adam dwell with your wife in paradise, and eat from whatever you please; but never approach this tree or you shall both become harmdoers. ‘

SHAKIR: and (we said): o Adam! dwell you and your wife in the garden; so eat from where you desire, but do not go near this tree, for then you will be of the unjust

PICKTHAL: and (unto man): o Adam! dwell thou and thy wife in the garden and eat from whence ye will, but come not nigh this tree lest ye become wrong-doers.

YUSUFALI: “o Adam! dwell thou and thy wife in the garden, and enjoy (its good things) as ye wish: but approach not this tree, or ye run into harm and transgression.”

Verse 7:20

QARIB: but Satan whispered to them, so that he might reveal to them their shameful parts which had been hidden from them, he said: ‘your lord has prohibited you from this tree lest you both become angels or become among the immortal. ‘

SHAKIR: but the shaitan made an evil suggestion to them that he might make manifest to them what had been hidden from them of their evil inclinations, and he said: your lord has not forbidden you this tree except that you may not both become two angels or that you may (not) become of the immortals

PICKTHAL: then Satan whispered to them that he might manifest unto them that which was hidden from them of their shame, and he said: your lord forbade you from this tree only lest ye should become angels or become of the immortals.

YUSUFALI: then began Satan to whisper suggestions to them, bringing openly before their minds all their shame that was hidden from them (before): he said: “your lord only forbade you this tree, lest ye should become angels or such beings as live for ever.”

Verse 7:21

QARIB: he swore to both: ‘indeed, i am to you among the advisers. ‘

SHAKIR: and he swore to them both: most surely i am a sincere adviser to you

PICKTHAL: and he swore unto them (saying): lo! i am a sincere adviser unto you.

YUSUFALI: and he swore to them both, that he was their sincere adviser.

Verse 7:22

QARIB: so he cheated both by delusion. and when they had tasted the tree, their shameful parts became apparent to them, and they both covered themselves with the leaves of paradise. (then) their lord called to them, saying: ‘did i not prohibit you to approach that tree, and did i not warn you that Satan was your clear enemy? ‘

SHAKIR: then he caused them to fall by deceit; so when they tasted of the tree, their evil inclinations became manifest to them, and they both began to cover themselves with the leaves of the garden; and their lord called out to them: did i not forbid you both from that tree and say to you that the shaitan is your open enemy?

PICKTHAL: thus did he lead them on with guile. and when they tasted of the tree their shame was manifest to them and they began to hide (by heaping) on themselves some of the leaves of the garden. and their lord called them, (saying): did i not forbid you from that tree and tell you: lo! Satan is an open enemy to you?

YUSUFALI: so by deceit he brought about their fall: when they tasted of the tree, their shame became manifest to them, and they began to sew together the leaves of the garden over their bodies. and their lord called unto them: “did i not forbid you that tree, and tell you that Satan was an avowed enemy unto you?”

The Sons of the Lord God in Bible versus Quran (12)

This is the 12th article of the series:” The Sons of the Lord God in Bible versus Quran”. 

In the Bible, the Lord Jesus said: for they cannot even die anymore, because they are like angels, and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection. And the Lord is not a God of dead men, but of living, for all live to Him; He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive

In the Quran, Allah, the Almighty Creator has no son, no children and no partner. Also, the sons of the resurrection are not either the sons of God nor they are like the angels. The Angels are created from pure clear, plain, splendid and noble light.  In addition, Allah is the God of the living and the dead and He is the God of everything.

The Sons of the Lord God in the Bible (12)

Some of the Sadducees, who deny and say that there is any resurrection, came to the Lord Jesus with a question. The Sadducees said to the Lord Jesus, “Moses wrote for us that if a man’s brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, the man must take (marry) the widow and have children for his brother.  Now there were seven brothers; and the first took a wife and died childless; and the second took her to wife, and he died childless; an

the Lord Jesus said to the Sadducees, who deny the resurrection, “The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage, for they cannot even die anymore, because they are like angels, and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection; and He is not a God of dead men, but of living, for all live to Him; He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive.

Now, there are some questions:

How come that a single women marry seven brothers? What if she does not like of them? Was she an inheritance without having any decision about her special life?

How come that the Angels are like the sons of the resurrection although the physical features of both are very different?

If God is only the God of the livings, then who is the God of the dead?

The Sons of the Lord God in the Quran (12)

On the other hand, the Quran makes it very clear and says that Allah, the Almighty Creator, has neither a son nor a partner.

The Quran decisively forbids saying that Allah has a son.

It is not befitting for the Majesty of Allah to take to Himself a son.

Allah has not taken any son either from the Children of Adam or from the angels.

if there were a god along with Allah, each god would have taken away what he created, he would have made it exclusively his and prevented the other [god] from having any mastery over it; and some of them would surely rise up against others, in challenge, just as the kings of this world are wont to do.

Allah is the Knower of the Unseen and the visible, what is hidden and what is observed.  And exalted, magnified, be He above what they associate!, with Him of son or partners.  Allah is far transcendent above all that they ascribe unto Him!

In Islam, this point is very important faith wise.

Again, it is unforgivable sin to say or to believe that the One Almighty Creator [who is Allah or God or the Lord or Jehovah or whatever name(s) you are giving Him] has a son or Sons.

From the Islamic point of view, the conclusion of this essential topic that may establish or destroy the faith is that:

Any one who believe that the Almighty Creator has a son or Sons; he messes his faith up and is considered as a disbeliever and in the afterlife he will end up as an eternal inhabitant of the hell.

Any one who believes that the Almighty Creator has neither a son nor a partner he has a good faith and is considered as a believer and in the afterlife he will end up as an eternal inhabitant of the paradise.

The Prophet Muhammad would often say, ‘O Allah, O Compassionate One’.

Say, to them: ‘Invoke Allah or invoke the Compassionate One, that is to say, invoke Him by either of these [Names] or call upon Him by saying, ‘O God! O Compassionate One!’, whichever of these two [Names], you invoke, is beautiful to Him, to the One called by these two [Names], belong the Most Beautiful and Perfect Names’, these two [Names] being from among them.; and they [the other Names] are [the following] as [mentioned] in Hadith:

The meaning of verse 17:111

And say:

Praise be to Allah, Who has neither taken a son, nor has He any partner in sovereignty, in divineness, nor has He taken any ally, to assist Him, out of, because of any, weakness,  That is to say, He would never become weak and thus need an assistant.

And magnify Him with the magnifications worthy of Him; extol Him with a perfect extolling above that He should have taken a son or a partner, and above any weakness and above all that does not befit Him.

He is the One worthy of all praise, because of the perfection of His Essence and the fact that He alones possesses those attributes (and Names) of His.

Verse 17:110

PICKTHAL: say (unto mankind): cry unto Allah, or cry unto the beneficent, unto whichsoever ye cry (it is the same). his are the most beautiful names. and thou (Muhammad), be not loud-voiced in thy worship nor yet silent therein, but follow a way between.

YUSUFALI: say: “call upon Allah, or call upon rahman: by whatever name ye call upon him, (it is well): for to him belong the most beautiful names. neither speak thy prayer aloud, nor speak it in a low tone, but seek a middle course between.”

Verse 17:111

QARIB: say: ‘praise be to Allah who has not taken a son; who has no associate in the kingdom; nor out of humility any guardian. ‘ and exalt him repeatedly with exaltations.

SHAKIR: and say: (all) praise is due to Allah, who has not taken a son and who has not a partner in the kingdom, and who has not a helper to save him from disgrace; and proclaim his greatness magnifying (him)

PICKTHAL: and say: praise be to Allah, who hath not taken unto himself a son, and who hath no partner in the sovereignty, nor hath he any protecting friend through dependence. and magnify him with all magnificence.

YUSUFALI: say: “praise be to Allah, who begets no son, and has no partner in (his) dominion: nor (needs) he any to protect him from humiliation: yea, magnify him for his greatness and glory!”
