The Central Council for Research in Ayurveda (CCRAS) and IIT New Delhi, invented a new machine for Panchakarma (Ayurvedic Detoxification Therapies for the purification of skin) treatment of Ayurveda. The machine is being used in the Panchakarma section of the Central Research Institute of Ayurveda at Punjabi Bagh, New Delhi, India.

The prototype of the fully computerised multipurpose laser beam-guided ‘Dhara Yanthra’ has been developed, and is expected to be ready for technology transfer soon. Similarly, the partners have developed fully automated steam bath equipment, with provision for controlling the level of steam, temperature, bathing and medicated steam therapy, as demanded by the Panchakarma specialist. It also has an innovated liquid soap shower bath facility, to provide a completely hygienic and human intervention free treatment process. The product is being fine-tuned by the developers.

There is also a martial art based on this marma known as marma kala. Marma kala is an ancient Indian martial technique which prevailed even before the other martial arts came into existence and you can find the discussions about marma kala in vedas also like arthava veda and other medical scriptures.

It is said that marma kala is a technique which is used not to harm humans but to heal humans and this is was used very much in the latter way than the former way as this is a very specialized technique in which you target not the human body i.e. not the outside structure but you target the inner structure of the human body which is the very source of functioning and living if you mistakenly even touch the other nerve other than which you have to work upon then the person can also suffer death.

In this technique you will target the nerves, pressure points, and the joints, of the humans which specifically deals with some or the other vital function or functioning of the body and do you know what are martial arts basically based upon, they are not basically meant to train the physical outer body but they are specifically meant to train the inner body and the inner system to overcome any physical disaster or calamity if your inner system is not that strong as that of the one who has a through practice then it can be very dangerous to get entangled with the one who has practiced it.

In marma kala the teaching is giving where exactly to put the pressure and how much to put the pressure because excessive pressure can lead to death and vice versa so a through knowledge of this art is

very much essential to use as it takes years of practice. simultaneously you should also know how to capture the pressure and release the pressure if not death is certain.

Today marma kala has become extinct and the people are moving towards other martial arts other than this very powerful art.

The founders of Matha Ayurveda Eye Hospital were keen on spreading the awareness and benefits of Ayurveda and the scope of Ophthalmology in Ayurveda to the general public. The hospital has very modest beginnings. The hospital was started in a rented house with just 3 bedrooms and could accommodate only 3 or 4 patients during its initial days. The doctors had to work from makeshift O.P clinics had to survive the hard initial days with very little capital or financing available

Ayurvedic Eye Care Program for Children was instituted by Matha Ayurveda Eye Hospital in 1 June 2006 as part of its fifth anniversary celebrations. The Children’s eye care kit was also launched at the funciton. The kit consists of eye exersice instruments, eye charts, and medicines (that will be prescribed on individual basis). The first beneficiaries of children’s eye care program were the residents of Jayapraksh Lane, kudappanakunnu, where the hospital is situated.

Geriatric Eye care department in Matha Ayurveda Eye hospital started functioning from 1 October 2006 (world geriatric day). The program was launched at the state pensioners meet (held at peroorkada, thiruvananthapuram). The eye camp which constituted of screening of patients and their further treatments was co-ordinated in association with the doctors and P.G students of Government Ayurveda College, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

Ayurvedic Preventive clinic for Eye Problems in Diabetic Patients

This preventive clinic has been funcitonining sinced the time of inception of the hospital. The clinic concentrates on the prevention of Eye problems in diabetic patients by suitable modifications and advises to lifestyle, food habits etc.
